The Iowa Quilt Festival, formerly known as the Airing of the Quilts, celebrates the history, tradition, and artistry of quilting in Iowa! To start off the festivities, we are offering a highly-rated quilt retreat, classes, and Quilt Luminarium with Ricky Tims. We end the events with the grand finale of the Airing of the Quilts on Saturday where you'll see hundreds of quilts displayed in dozens of historical and cultural landmarks across our picturesque county, including the famous "bridges of Madison County". This unique event is one that you don’t want to miss!

You'll participate in six unique sessions that demystify seemingly complex concepts, teaches mastery of unique techniques, and harnesses the power of the ever-elusive muse of creativity.
Taking place at the Iowa Theater, a quaint art deco theater from the early years, you'll get to interact and meet Ricky Tims in person while he entertains and educates you on stage.
It's for ALL Quilters!
Spend three days close to our Historic Town Square at the Winterset Livery doing what you love best. You can sew all day, take classes, go to the Iowa Theater and shop in our downtown area.
If you've purchased a class registration, you'll receive a separate email with class instructions and the full supply list.
If you've registered for the retreat, you'll receive a separate email with more details on the event.
For the Airing of the Quilts, you can start at any venue and will receive a bracelet at that time so we know you've already registered when you visit more of the quilt locations.
